How did it all begin?
The foundation for GiftstoIndia24x7 was laid way back in 1999. The founder - Mr. Amit Desai - had just passed out of college completing Bachelors in Commerce with Honours from the prestigious St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata. Being from a Gujarati business family, it was expected for him to join the family business of manufacturing “Reliable” branded greeting cards. Having joined the business, one of the first things that he did was to introduce a range of e-greetings which the users can send to their loved ones. Along with the e-greetings, there was a small section of e-gifting through which flowers, cakes, chocolates & other gifts can be sent across India.
1999 - 2003
This was the initial phase of the company. The company was still deriving the majority of its revenue through its greeting cards manufacturing and distribution. Somewhere towards the end of 2003, Reliance entered the mobile telephony space and there was a mobile revolution in India which led to drastic reduction of mobile telephony cost.
At the same time - there was a massive increase in the cost of postage stamps in India. These 2 changes lead to an overnight collapse of the greeting card industry. We were saddled with dead stocks and bad debts worth crores. The greeting card industry was really hit hard. We started looking for alternatives & began focusing on improving our visibility in searches.
2004 - 2007
The more we focussed on the website - the more we saw the potential. WIth the greeting cards industry dying, more and more focus was given to online gifting and the results were very very promising. This was also the time when the team started to expand. From just a 2 member team, we were now a strong team of 12 people who were managing the various aspects of the business. Mr. Amit Desai was involved in all aspects of the business. He would provide customer support or go for a delivery (if required). This helped him understand the business in detail. The present website - www.giftstoindia24x7.com was launched in 2007. This was done to give the clear indication to its users that it was in the business of delivering gifts in India & we are available 24x7 for any queries that you have. It was at this time we launched a call centre which was available 24x7. Since our users are around the world, we decided to be available to them round the clock.
2008 - 2014
At the end of 2007, Mr. Sumit Desai - brother of Amit Desai joined the business. The business grew exponentially after his arrival. He had a strong analytical mind & an ability to take the business to previously unencountered roads. This led to explosive growth. We were able to forge successful partnerships with some of the leading businesses in India and we expanded our reach to 3000+ cities in India.
2015 - 2020
Having established themselves as one of the leading service providers of delivering gifts in India, these years gave stability to the business.
2020 - 2022
While most of the business were hit heavily by the COVID-19 Pandemic, GiftstoIndia24x7 fared extremely well due to its already established digital platform.
2023 - Present
With 25+ years in business, today - GiftstoIndia24x7 is a brand in itself. It has served millions of customers & is the most sought after location for sending gifts across India.
