The day is celebrated in every country on different dates but the essence is still to celebrate and cherish Teachers and their constant efforts. In India, it is celebrated on the 5th of September the birthday of the first Vice President of Independent India. Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan was a scholar, philosopher, and Bharat Ratna recipient. He inspired many and was loved by all. His approach to education was unique and developed. To cherish and celebrate his life, work, and achievements the day Teacher’s Day was organized. 

The primary idea actually was to celebrate his birthday, some of his students sought to him to ask for permission. But as he did not like any celebrations he did allow them to do so, then the idea to celebrate a day dedicated to only teachers was born. Thus, to date, the day is celebrated solemnly to appreciate the efforts of Teachers and express the gratitude of students.
