About Murshidabad
Murshidabad is a city and a municipality in Murshidabad district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Murshidabad was for a time the Mughal capital of the Bengal region, and is located on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, a distributary of the Ganges River.
Murshidabad was a town and district of British India, in the Bengal Presidency. In the Mughal period it was the capital of Bengal. The town of Murshidabad is on the left bank of the Hooghly River or main channel of the Ganges.
