Geeta Phogat is a renowned wrestler. She was born on 15th December 1988. Geeta began her wrestling training under the guidance of Mahavir Phogat, her father and a renowned wrestler and senior Olympics coach. Geeta made her international debut in the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship held in Jalandhar, Punjab in 2009. She won against Emily Bensted and got India its first gold medal in Commonwealth Games. Post that, Geeta won various national and international tournaments and championships like - Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. Apart from various awards and accolades, Geeta Phogat is a recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2012.
