When is Ganesh Chaturthi in 2020 ?

In the month of Bhadra, and August - September month of the Gregorian calendar, the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi falls. And in the year 2020, Ganesh Chaturthi will fall on August 22nd. On this day Lord Ganesha was born to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. He is the elephant headed God, whose arrival on earth from Kailash Parvat is celebrated as Ganesh Chaturthi. Ganesha was born with a normal human face but one day out of anger Lord Shiva cut off his head, but when he learned that he was his son he came back with a head of elephant and Lord Ganesha came back to life by putting the head. Thus in India, elephants are sacred animals. Lord Ganesha is offered prayers, his favourite sweet modak and lots of devotional songs are performed during aarti.
