On this day, it is believed that Lord Rama defeated the evil King Ravana. Thus, this day also symbolizes the triumph of good over evil. Usually celebrated on the Ashvin month of the last day of Navaratri, people all over India celebrates this day in their own way. Some take part in Ram Lila while others engage in processions. During evenings, the effigies of Ravana, Meghnand and Kumbhkarana are burnt which symbolizes that the power of goodness and humanity is above all kind of powers.
